The 2019 SEMA Show gave us a glimpse at what’s new in the truck market. Today, we’re looking at AlphaRex and its new NOVA headlights for late-model Ford F-150s.
Once upon a time, headlights were merely there to provide illumination. These days, thankfully, headlights can offer a lot more — especially on late-model trucks. The new NOVA headlight fits this bill nicely, offering style and functionality in one package. We spoke with Danny Parker and Heliodoro Muro to find out more.
The new NOVA headlights feature DRL planks that can cycle through various functions and colors.
“One of the main features of our new headlights is the DRL [Daytime Running Lights] activation feature,” said Parker. “When you unlock or turn on the vehicle, the lights will go through a scanning mode of amber, and then turn into a white DRL.”
The DRLs will help customers gain visibility on the road, and add a little flair to stand out from the crowd. Another cool feature of the headlights is the sequential turn signal, as well as the patented OSRAM LED technology. “Each light has multiple 13-watt LED pods,” commented Muro. “I run these headlights on my 2017 Raptor, and I typically only need to use the low-beams because they’re so bright.”
OSRAM projector bulbs have the power to see the way ahead. Their total low-beam output per headlight is 2,200 lumens, while the high-beam output is 2,600 lumens.
Output of the lights ranges from 2,200 lumens on the low beams to 2,600 lumens on the high beams. Muro said the Nova headlights are simple to put on: “These lights are plug and play. They use the stock wiring harnesses, and they can plugin directly. Install time is about two hours total for both lights.”
