Severe weather hit the Lucas Oil Speedway and surrounding town of Wheaton, Missouri.  The video above, shot and published by news station KOLR10, shows extensive damage to the track and facilities.

The Grandstands at the off-road track had recently gotten a new roof, unfortunately, it did not make it through the storm. Many people were on-site, ready for the upcoming Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 race. There were no fatalities but several RVs were toppled over and moved by the high winds, some of them with people inside.

Damage could be seen all over the grounds at Lucas Oil Speedway. It was more than just the facilities that received damage.

“I was in the kitchen part trying to get my shoes on, trying to get outside to my truck because I knew something was coming,” Robert Kircher explained to KY3 News. “I tried opening the door again, and I couldn’t open it. The wind had so much pressure against it. The slideouts were going in and out. After that, I just felt the trailer take off.” KY3 reports the RV was carried 10-15 yards and then knocked on its side.

The neighboring town of Wheaton suffered damage to homes and structures as well. “Our first thoughts are for the people of the Wheatland community and the area and we are thankful that there were no fatalities,” Lucas Oil Director of Racing Operations Dan Robinson said.

The Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 Race, a Dirt Track three-day racing event, scheduled for May 24-26, 2019 has been postponed. Lucas Oil is said to be evaluating dates to move the event to and is expected to release additional information next week.
