When you hear the term “Death Valley” you probably don’t think about off-roading. It is the lowest place in the United States and typical it is pretty hot there, making for a less than ideal off-road trip. But, in Death Valley, there are a few places of interest including Butte Valley. Inside Butte Valley are a few old cabins and some old mines. Seeing the whole valley takes quite a while, so this is a place where you really should stay the night if you want to see everything that Butte Valley has to offer. The trails themselves are very easy, and even a completely stock Jeep or truck would have no problem getting through Butte Valley.

Thanks to Trails Offroad, we have this awesome video to see all of the cool places of Butte Valley. The first stop is Rustle Cabin, which was one of the first cabins built in the area. It dates all the way back in the 1880s and is still standing in decent shape. You can even stay there overnight if you want to. Nearby is Mangle Cabin, which is located just on the other side of the mountain that Rustle Cabin is located on. Mangle Cabin was estimated to be built in 1924 and is comprised of two relatively small buildings. Surprisingly enough, this old cabin has running water thanks to a nearby spring! The next cabin is the Geologist Cabin.

Further down the trail are other cabins, some of which are no longer standing. The Butte Valley area was known for mining, and the some of the mine shafts are still up and safe to go into!
