The 2019 Ford Ranger could be just a few short weeks away from making its first public appearance at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), but that does not mean the truck hasn’t been making its rounds. The Ranger was one of the most popular mid-size trucks before being wiped out of the US.

Ford has a large faithful Ranger following and they are excited to see the truck back on US soil, but it is coming back all grown up. No more is the mini-truck, but a mid-size truck that rivals the size of the Toyota Tacoma and the Chevrolet Colorado. The Ranger seems to mirror some of the stylings on each of those trucks.

One of the most exciting parts is the fact we will see a Ranger Raptor model. With Ford’s success of the Raptor, it only makes sense that it brings it to its all-new pickup.

Expect a full complement of Ecoboost four- and six-cylinder engines, and perhaps a 3.2-liter diesel engine. Ford may use the direct-injected twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 as the premium choice. Ford’s new 10-speed automatic, co-developed with GM, is also expected.
