One of the easiest ways to improve the ride quality on a vehicle is with a new set of shocks. Bilstein unveiled not a new shock, but new applications for one of its existing products – the 6112 series shock.
“The B8 6112 series shock has been expanded to domestic full-size half-ton trucks,” Shane Cassad explained. “It comes as a kit, with two shocks and two springs. The shocks use the factory mounting location so it has an OE fit.”
The B8 6112 series shock is available for Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge full-size half-ton trucks. An adjustable spring seat allows for a vehicle to be leveled or lifted.
One feature that is unique on these shocks is the adjustability. The B8 6112 series shocks feature an adjustable spring seat which enables the vehicle to be leveled or lifted. This will give the vehicle extra ground clearance and room for larger tires.
“The 60 mm diameter shock allows for more dampening,” Cassad said. “The larger piston on the B8 6112 gives full-size trucks a smoother ride as there is more surface area for oil to pass around.”
A vehicle’s suspension needs to work together. The rear suspension needs to be able to keep up with the way the front performs and Bilstein kept this in mind when they paired a shock with the B8 6112.
“In the rear, the B8 6112 shock is paired with a B8 516o to be able to keep up with the front,” Cassad continued. “It is a 46 mm shock with a remote reservoir and actually provides more down travel even if the rear of the truck is kept stock.”
