One of the perks of being a professional off-road race driver is the chance to go out and test out products. This is the case for Tavo Vildósola who recently went out with Toyo Tires to test the Open Country R/T-R, a 39-inch, competition version of the street tire.
Racing has always been part of his life from boy accompanying his father Gustavo to go and walk in motorcycle since he was three years old. The first race of Tavo was in 2000 when he shared the wheel of a Class 1 buggy in the San Felipe 250 in preparation for the Baja 1000.
Gustavo (Tavo) Vildósola, Jr. won the 2016 SCORE Baja 500 for Toyo and Team Toyo’s Andy McMillin won the 49th Annual SCORE Baja 500. Team Toyo drivers Robby Gordon, BJ Baldwin, Tavo Vildósola, and Andy McMillin have won three SCORE Baja 500’s, and three SCORE Baja 1000’s between them using Toyo Open Country tires.
The Open Country R/T DOT tire features high turn-up, three-ply polyester construction, optimized pattern arrangement, an aggressive sidewall with a special sidewall compound, scalloped shoulder blocks, and stone and mud ejectors.
