Yamaha teased us last week with a trailer for an all-new side-by-side, one that featured no clutch pedal. The wait is finally over as they announced today what the vehicle was all about.
The all-new 2017 Yamaha YXZ1000R will now be available with two transmission options. The YXZ1000R SS will feature an industry first 5-speed sport shift transmission with automatic shift and paddle shifters. Everything can now be done without the use fo a clutch pedal.
The 2017 YXZ1000R SS also features Yamaha’s launch system for maximum acceleration off the line. The UTV is also capable of full throttle upshifts and automatic downshifts. Automatic downshifts is a feature that returns the transmission to first gear automatically when the vehicle comes to a stop.
The Sport Shift model still comes with the inline three-cylinder 998 cc 12-valve dual overhead cams motor that Yamaha released last year. The motor seems to be unchanged from the previous year as it offers all the same features.
The drivetrain is not the only thing new on the special edition Yamaha. All-new Fox X2 suspension will help keep the ride smooth no matter what the terrain is with its four-way adjusters.
The 2017 Yamaha YXZ1000R will be something new to the industry and something that may shake up what the other manufacturers are doing. Do you feel that it is a step in the right direction? Tell us in the comments below!
