Bilstein introduced its 6112 series shocks at SEMA 2015, increasing the vehicles the company supports with this OEM replacement lift shock, and further enhancing consumer confidence in its U.S.-made products and high quality company standards.
The 6112 series shocks optimize off-road and on-road capabilities through a large 60mm digressive piston and integrated spring. One of the features that makes these shocks different is the ability to offer zero to 2.5-inches of lift while fitting in the stock location with no modification necessary.
“The 6112 is a larger diameter than our 5100 ride height adjustable shock. There is more capability with this shock, it has a larger piston and broader range of damping, which means that it has a smoother ride over rough choppy terrain. When you hit something hard, it provides more high speed damping,” says Bilstein’s Shane Casad.

Casad continues by saying, “It has the same snap-ring technology as the 5100 series shock, but the nice thing with the 6112 series is that it uses the factory mount and one of our custom-engineered cold-wound linear springs. This spring enhances vehicle control and ride comfort.”
There will be many more applications for this shock, but for now the 6112 series is available for the some Toyota and GM trucks, and new for 2016 for the 2009 and newer Dodge Ram, and 2015 and newer Ford F-150.
“We also have the 8125 Series rebuildable coilover,” Casad says. “These shocks are sold by length and in either a 46 mm or 60 mm size. They use an industry standard 1/2- inch by 1.5-inch mounting and range in size from 5-inches to 16-inch travel lengths. They are also revalvable so customers can customize the shock to suit their needs.”
It is great to see Bilstein offering more applications for OEM fitment as it allows truck owners customize their vehicle right away. The shocks also allow the factory ride to be retained, if not improved.
