Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ride along in an Ultra 4 truck? Well now is your chance to ride along with Shannon Campbell at Glen Helen Raceway.
Technology is an amazing thing, not only does it push the limits of off-road vehicles to new limits year after year, now it allows you sit in a race truck and look all around.
Placed inside of Campbell’s Ultra 4 truck with the help from Driving Line, is a configuration of GoPro cameras that capture everything in a 360-degree view. The camera were attached to the top of the cab.

While watching the video in YouTube, there is a directional pad in the upper left corner that allows you to rotate the view any way you would like. The ability to drag the video screen will also allow you to rotate the viewing area.
Want look out the window as you go around the course, or look at how Shannon Campbell is driving, all that is possible and more with this video. It is one of the first 360-degree videos we have seen on youtube, but even more exciting that it is off-road related.
It is a nice way to get an insiders view while on the track. At events we see the vehicles drive by and see the drivers in them, but never really know what is going on inside. The speed of the vehicle is placed in the center of the screen letting you know how fast Campbell is driving, while you hear the roar of the engine in the background.
The video is something that we can see being used more and more in off-road. It will only be a matter of time before this technology will allow you to watch the drivers live during a race. Either way it is something that is exciting to see and be able to get a point of view you would not be able to get otherwise.
