The internal combustion engine is an incredibly complex and refined piece of engineering that progressively gets more and more sophisticated as technology has improved. One of the most amazing aspects of these engineering marvels is how many different fluids and gases circulate inside of them, fluids and gases that are designed to remain separate from one another in most cases. From oxygen to carbon dioxide and gasoline to radiator fluid, there is a lot of room for issues as a lot of these fluids and gases have no business mixing with one another inside the inner workings of the engine.
Used as part of the PCV system, Moroso‘s new Jeep air-oil separator is designed to extract oil from air before it’s sent back into the intake manifold and circulated into parts of the motor where it does not belong. Moroso’s Jeep application, part #85668 for 2012+ Jeep JK 3.6-liter V6s, works with a catch can (as opposed to putting the oil back into the crankcase) and in their new promotional video shown above, they actually use a clear catch can to demonstrate the amount of oil that it actually collects.
Moroso offers numerous air-oil separators for a wide variety of applications that can be found on their homepage. For the engine-consious car enthusiast, Moroso’s air-oil separator adds a little bit of peace of mind in knowing that the excess oil won’t be making its way into the engine you’ve worked so hard to maintain.
