Sometimes it seems like aftermarket companies get to have all the fun, especially the ones that work in and around suspension upgrades. So it goes for Eibach Springs, who recently were out driving a Jeep through the Gold Mountain Trail in Big Bear Lake, California.
The company filmed the session in the above video, as it was testing out the new All Terrain Lift Kit for Wrangler JKs. The vehicle in question is a 2009 Sahara model, equipped with aftermarket bumpers, wheels, winch, and a quartet of beefy, 35-inch BFG Mud Terrains.
The kit raised the Jeep by 3.5-inches, and lent it some of the same racing technology that Eibach uses for rigs that compete in SCORE, while also maintaining refined manners for those on-road drives to and from the trail. Included in the set are springs, Pro-Truck shocks (with nitro-coated rods, MAXIMA shock oil, and powder coated bodies), bumpstop spacers, adjustable endlinks, stainless steel brake lines, adjustable front traction bars, and rear traction bar location brackets.
Far from buckling under pressure, however, the kit proves itself a worthy addition to the JK, as the aired-down tires and higher ground clearance combine to take the vehicle to new heights. The springs do a fantastic job of keeping the Jeep stable and grounded at all times, and the spring rate is at just the right amount to keep the vehicle stable as it navigates the terrain. Meanwhile, the Pro-Truck shocks present a reasonable compromise of stiff versus loose valving, allowing the springs to do their job without forcing any discomfort on the passengers.
“This kit is designed to be well-balanced for the end user, it’s well-mannered on the street, and a lot of our customers are saying it’s better than the stock comfort,” said Eibach’s Mark Krumme. “It’s got tons of articulation, and seen some extensive usage on our testbed for over 40,000 miles. It really strikes the perfect balance between off-road and on-road usage.”
For those who seek a good middle ground between stock height and mid-range height lift, Eibach also offers a two-inch leveling kit.
