Much like a nice pair of bosoms, hill climbs are one of those things that never seem to get any less awesome the more you experience them. BustedKnuckleVideo has established a great track record of bringing viewers choice cuts of screaming V8-powered fury, and today’s offering is no different. It’s a recording of the high-value purse competition at the Adventure Off Road Park in south central Tennessee.
Well, that isn’t totally true; today’s serving is a little different in that the racers here are duking it out to net some serious dough–$10,000, to be exact–giving every competitor just that extra motivation to go balls to the wall and see what happens.
Perhaps the off-roading gods were not with these valiant warriors on the day of the event, or perhaps no one had the talent or gift to handle the terrain, since not one person was able to drive up the entire hill, according to Busted Knuckle. What we see instead are the cringe and laughter-inducing attempts from nearly 20 drivers, almost all of whom fall victim to springy suspension and gravity.
A couple of moments really stand out from the video, however. The first one comes at about the 3:22 mark, where we see a blue beast barrel its way up the incline, picking good lines and working the throttle efficiently for most of the course. He gets within 15-feet or so of the finish line, but try as he might, the momentum just isn’t there, and he’s forced to give up.
The other highlight occurs at 5:18, and it’s another blue badass, giving its all to climb uphill. Things go awry at 5:25 after the passenger front tire rebounds off of an edge, and the car lifts up, lands at an awkward angle, and flips over sideways. We catch a brief glimpse of flames spewing from the left-side header, but they fortunately peter out before starting something dangerous.
Busted Knuckle reports that the next hill climb event in 2015 will likely be even bigger, as the prize will increase to $25,000. Hopefully these hillclimbers will be able to keep their egos and daring in check as they try to reach the top.
