The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado will be getting a facelift. Chevy truck sales are up 32 percent this year with a large help coming from the Chevy Colorado. Chevy is hoping to continue to ride this momentum wave while continuing to strengthen the brand.
There will be significant updates for the 2016 Silverado 1500 pickup. “New front end designs with bold horizontal elements, sculpted hoods and dramatic lighting reflect the strength and refinement that have helped make Silverado the fastest growing full-size pickup brand this year,” said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevy Trucks. “The redesigned 2016 Silverado will build on Chevy Trucks’ legacy of dependability. It will feature a more muscular appearance and offer new customer-focused technologies.”
The exterior is not the only change for 2016. The trucks will expand the use of there 8-speed automatic transmission. Chevy MyLink will also be getting an upgrade with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with additional safety technologies.
Since the introduction of the current model Silverado in 2013, Silverado sales have doubled, on a percentage basis, each year. Through June of this year Chevrolet has sold over 41,000 Colorados during the same period that Silverado sales are up 14.6 percent.
Chevy is hoping the redesign of the 2016 Silverado 1500 will help in an aggressive strategy to build on Chevy Trucks’ momentum. More product and design details will be released this fall closer to the public debut of the redesigned 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. We will need to wait and see what else may be added to make this truck stand apart from the rest.
